The news may kindly be conveyed, by word of mouth, to members of the Family living in Karachi, and around the world. This should help those living abroad and planning to visit Karachi to make their traveling plans accordingly.
Venue: The venue will be E/8 – 1, 4th Gizri Street, Phase IV, Defence Housing Authority – same venue as in previous years – through the kind courtesy of the late ALIYA and NABIL TEBAWI and by kind permission of KHWAJA MUNIR MASHOOQULLAH, who has taken over its maintenance.
Time: Kindly note that, instead of lunch, as in past years, it will be HIGH TEA from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (There will be arrangement for those wishing to perform their prayers – ‘Asr 5 p.m. and Maghrib 6.48 p.m.)
Registration: It would be appreciated if those wishing to attend, register the number of persons attending, with Khawaja Arshad (584-1835 or 0300-224-3436), at the latest, by Wednesday 24th August 2011. Those who wish may also inform Khwaja Sayeed Shahabuddin by telephone (92-21)3567-4639 or 0300-292-1903 or sayeed425@gmail.com
Please be kind enough to make a note of the dates mentioned above, and remember to make your registration without waiting to be contacted by Khwaja Arshad who, and members of his family, have had the sad experience, in the past, to keep telephoning and reminding one person after another, to register. Please do not forget that the caterer has to be given the number of guests expected well in advance.
Entry fee: As promised, we are glad to inform you that the contribution for the HIGH TEA will be as follows: Rs.400/- per couple or Rs.200/- per head. For children above 12 years, and those dependent on their parents: Rs.150/- each.
Donation: It will be appreciated that the amount of contribution will be kept as low as possible to make it convenient for a large number of persons to attend and make the occasion a success. This has been possible, in the past, due to the kindness and generosity of a few members who helped with donations to enable us to meet the total expenses. Therefore, those wishing to support this cause – whatever is conveniently possible – may kindly send their contributions to Khwaja Arshad, or let him know the amount they would like to contribute on the day of the function. We sincerely hope that every effort will be made by members of the family to make this Annual Family Get-together a great success.

5,000 cops for Youm-e-Ali security - Karachi

KARACHI -  Due to the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, the Sindh government has ensured foolproof security arrangements on Youm-e-Ali, as more than 5,000 police would be deployed in the city on Monday (today). Walkthrough gates and scanners would be installed along with a command and control room in Nishtar Park. Meanwhile, 1500 policemen from East Zone and 4015 from South Zone would be positioned at the park as well.
These decisions were made in a meeting held to review the arrangements for Youm-e-Ali chaired by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister’s House. The Karachi Electric Supply Company and other departments were instructed to ensure provision of services, especially from 1pm to 11pm on the day. High-rise buildings along the procession routes will be monitored by security agencies and check posts would be set up atop buildings. All the participants of the religious gathering would be searched by the law enforcement forces personnel.
Separately, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has directed that ambulances and fire brigades should be deputed along the procession points. He also directed town administrators to monitor all the arrangements personally. To ensure security, City District Government Karachi workers would be issued special identity cards. Alongside Police and Rangers, volunteers of different organisations of Shia community will also be deployed at security checkposts
