How Gold Rates Are Fixed in Pakistan

The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA) announces the official daily rates. Individual jewellers in Karachi may quote slightly different prices, so always check 2–3 shops before buying.

5 Tips for Gold Buyers in Karachi

  1. Buy from a reputed jeweller — Jodia Bazaar has established dealers
  2. Ask for a purity certificate — confirm karat and get weight on receipt
  3. Compare making (mazdoori) charges — they vary widely, negotiate first
  4. Check today's official rate before you walk in — it gives bargaining power
  5. Keep the receipt safe — essential for resale or exchange

Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan Today – 6 October 2026: Latest Rates Per Litre

The federal government has revised petroleum prices once again. Here are the latest petrol and diesel rates effective from today, 6 October 2026.

New Fuel Prices (per litre)

Petrol: Rs393.64 (increased by 88 paisa)

High-Speed Diesel: Rs397.76 (decreased by Rs1.88)

The new rates were notified by the Petroleum Division on Monday night on OGRA's recommendation.

Price Trend This Month

Fuel prices have changed three times in the first week of October alone:

2 October: Petrol up Rs3.26 to Rs390.66 | Diesel down Rs1.01 to Rs399.34

3–5 October: Petrol up Rs2.10 to Rs392.76 | Diesel up 30 paisa to Rs399.64

6 October: Petrol up 88 paisa to Rs393.64 | Diesel down Rs1.88 to Rs397.76

Kerosene and jet fuel prices were also raised on 3 October — kerosene now costs Rs329.54 per litre.

Why Did Prices Change?

According to the Petroleum Division, the revision reflects movements in the international oil market, including Platts benchmark rates, import premiums, and related costs. Brent crude is currently trading near $100 per barrel, while US crude is around $90 per barrel.

What It Means for Karachi Commuters

With petrol nearing Rs394 per litre, daily commuting costs keep climbing. A bike commuter travelling 40 km daily now spends roughly Rs450–500 per day on fuel alone. Car owners are feeling the pinch even more.

5 Tips to Save Fuel

Keep your tyres properly inflated — low pressure wastes fuel

Avoid harsh braking and rapid acceleration

Turn off the engine at long traffic signals

Get your vehicle tuned up regularly

Carpool or use public transport for daily office trips
