CM Sindh chairs law & order meeting

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah Thursday presided over a high level meeting regarding law and order situation in the province at CM House. Speaking on the occasion, he directed the Police, Rangers and other law enforcing agencies to take prompt and specific measures for maintenance of peaceful atmosphere in the province.
He also called for evolving a strategy to curb the activities of anti-social elements and criminals.
Qaim Ali Shah stressed that efforts be made not only to fully restore peace at all places in the province particularly in Karachi and upper districts, but also to reduce the crime rate. Incidents of targeted killings, of kidnapping for ransom, murders, theft and other crimes be also curbed.
Qaim Ali Shah added that people expect that law and order be controlled and it is our prime duty to live up to the expectations of people. He said that he is satisfied with the efforts for checking crime rate in some districts, and hoped that coordinated efforts steps will be made for elimination of crime from Karachi.
IG Police Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani, in his presentation informed that presently over all law and order situation in the Karachi has been normalized due to joint efforts of Law Enforcing Agencies and proactive policy except few localized disturbances in Orangi, Pak Colony and Lyari.
He added that only 13 cases of targeted killings were reported during the month of June 2011, while the police foiled two attempts of bomb blasts by terrorists, thus averting numerous casualties.
Durrani informed that the Eagle Force consisting of 300 personnel has been raised as a reserve force at zonal level. (APP)
