KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Khan Afridi returned home on Sunday night to fight his case against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as he received a rousing welcome by his fans who gathered at the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport Karachi.
Shahid Afridi was recently sacked by the PCB for making public in the media team management’s official matters. The former captain admitted the charges but only when he was all set to join Hampshire for their Friends Lift T20 campaign, the cricket board revoked his NOC thus closing doors on him to play any sort of cricket.
However, Afridi, who has a strong and huge fan base in Karachi, has consulted his legal team and is back home now to fight his case out
Over 3000 fans were at the Karachi airport to receive their hero where they kept chanting slogans against the PCB and its chairman Ijaz Butt.
While talking to media at Karachi airport, Shahid Afridi said that he is contact with his legal team and will make public his course of action on Monday. He hoped of getting justice against his sudden sacking and then revocation of his central contract as well as the NOC.
Boom Boom Afridi will appear before a three-man disciplinary committee on June 8 that will hear the case and decide on his future.
Talking about the matter, Shahid Khan Afridi said that captaincy was never his destination and it was a matter of honour for him the way the PCB has mistreated him in the past year or so.
